Wall Street Closed Because Protesters Occupy It For Democracy (09/17/2011)
History has proven..when the college students start peacefully protesting, and they have a right to, we ALL do..that its getting close to a revolution, a change. We need these young people to jump start us! they are our future, and they want their rights..what's wrong with that? I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY WITH THEM!!! We need a change. Wake up sheeple!!
Why do people think this nation is a democracy? Democracy is where 51% of the people take away the rights of the other 49%. This nation is a Republic, do your research. When asked what he had given us Benjamin Franklin stated: " A Republic...if you can keep it."

Democracy Now World Revolution ArabSpring: Morocco Activists Arrested by Fascist Government
There has been a sudden surge in arrests among pro-democracy activists and online campaigners in Morocco in recent days. Three have occurred in the past week alone. Little has been reported in the press and it took bloggers to report on the arrests for the traditional media in Morocco to pick up on the stories.
The anti-corruption campaigner
The first arrest occurred on Monday when authorities in the northern city of Fnidaq apprehended blogger and anti-corruption campaigner Mohamed Douas. Mohamed is the founder of a community news website called Fnidaq Online.
The arrest, according to his friends and supporters, might be related to a Facebook group, Wikileaks Fnidaq, Mohamed founded and where he published documents allegedly exposing corruption within the local administration. Mohamed was accused of drug trafficking but a group of bloggers and online activists say the accusation is baseless.
Hamid Salim writing on Young Immigrants says the judicial process is biased and politically motivated. He writes [ar]:
The rapper
Another activist, rapper Moad Belghouat, alias Haked (Arabic for The Vindictive or The Outraged) was arrested on Friday on charges of assaulting a pro-regime demonstrator. Moad is a an active member of the Moroccan pro-democracy youth movement known as February 20.
Words of support for Moad abound on Twitter and Facebook. Blogger Ghassan Wail writes:
On Sunday activists marched in solidarity with Moad Haked wearing T-shirts bearing the phrase “Free Haked or arrest us all.”
Moad supporters released the following video [ar] showing people holding a sign calling for the release of the rapper:
The poet
On Saturday, poet and political satirist Younes Belmalha, a.k.a Inkicharia, was reportedly detained. He is known for his humorous and irreverent videos mostly critical of the regime. Shortly after the news of the arrest, netizens reported that Younes’ YouTube channel was being emptied of its video content. It is not clear at this point what Younes has been arrested for nor whether the deletion of the videos was the result of a third party intervention.
Following is a video [ar] of Younes reciting one of his poems. He deplores nepotism and corruption in the Moroccan society. The video is hosted by M20FevBel on YouTube:
Younes was reportedly released on Sunday. No details have emerged as to why he was apprehended.
Has anything really changed?
These arrests come only two months after the country adopted a supposedly democratic constitution, described by its advocates as one that would guarantee greater freedom of expression. Blogger Don Aminos wonders [fr]:

Charges were fabricated and the likely reason behind Mohamed’s arrest, at this particular time, was his campaign against corruption and the fact he revealed the involvement of a number of regional officials in cases of corruption and drug trafficking.A group of supporters gathered in front of the courthouse where Mohamed appeared before a judge on Thursday. In the following video (by Reporters sans limites) [ar] bloggers and activists express support for M. Douas. They describe the proceedings as unfair:

Words of support for Moad abound on Twitter and Facebook. Blogger Ghassan Wail writes:
The 20th February movement is a protest movement in the spirit of the “Arab spring” and has been fighting for more democracy, liberty, dignity and social justice over the last seven months. Haked is one of the artists highly involved in this movement. His lyrics are famous for being outspoken and critical about the Moroccan regime. He criticizes corruption, clientelism, the oligarchy of a few families in Morocco and the monarchy’s excessive wealth.Moad’s support group counts over a thousand members on Facebook.

The question I ask myself today is: at a time when all the tyrants are falling all around us, what results do the authorities think they will get out of these arrests? Fear has switched sides. To try to intimidate protesters seems to me to be suicidal as it only reinforces the credibility of the [pro-democracy] movement and crystallizes the hatred against the regime. But is the king informed of these arrests that go against his own interests? If so, what is his response or position? He, who has accustomed us with his soporific rhetoric on the role of the youth in society and the efforts made in its favor.

Anonymous Operation Syria - Anonymous/RevoluSec
Today, Syrians struggle for the very soul of their country. As long as the Syrian Fascist state uses oppressive tactics to restrict its people, we will not rest. The road to Damascus has been taken and there is no turning back now.
Greetings to our friends around the world,
We are Anonymous, the global resistance to tyranny.
As you read this, Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria, wages a bloody and brutal war on his people who seek nothing more than self-expression in the face of oppression.
The Syrian government actively controls the free flow of information for its own sinister motives through a complete international media blackout. The state owns a monopoly over the Syrian media, prohibits any critical analysis of the regime, and freely arrests journalists and bloggers on a whim. Digital surveillance is common, and upon arrest, many citizens are tortured until they reveal their social network accounts and passwords.
Indeed, the Syrian public faces the very real threat of strict monitoring of all online activity through a widespread government surveillance system. Every single Syrian’s web browsing is monitored, censored and recorded at all times using technology provided by Blue Coat Systems. Surveillance software has been installed at all Internet cafes to record every single site visited and word typed. In Syria, simply viewing a website can get you arrested. Such extreme restrictions and surveillance are violative of essential human rights.
For all the attempts to hide their atrocities from the international media, Assad and his corrupt cronies cannot hide the blood and tears of the Syrian people. For months, security forces have systematically engaged in murder, beatings, torture, disappearances, imprisonment and other inhumane acts aimed at stopping the quest for freedom and democracy.
In early August, forces pulled thousands from their homes, herded them into a sports stadium, seized their IDs and cell phones, and detained them for days. A two-year old girl was shot in the eye and killed - her father then shot and detained as he rushed to her lifeless body. A popular blogger was detained in July and has not been seen since then. A famous political cartoonist was beaten, had both hands broken and warned to stop satirizing government officials. Yet the Syrian government claims it has only engaged in operations to combat armed terrorist gangs. However, what gangs are spread over 185 thousand square kilometers and are comprised of children, bloggers and cartoonists?
Anonymous will not stand by idly while states like Syria degrade the common humanity of their citizens through the menaces of violence, surveillance and repression. We will actively challenge governments that engage in censorship and that wage bloody wars on their own people. We will strike in defense of the Syrian people. Assad: we will ensure that the world knows of your brutality and of the suffering of your people. Your blatant lies will be laid bare for the entire world to see. We will do everything we can to assist the Syrian people until you are toppled from power.
Today, Syrians struggle for the very soul of their country. As long as the state uses oppressive tactics to restrict its people, we will not rest. The road to Damascus has been taken and there is no turning back now.
Come for the revolution, stay for the lulz,

RealDemocracyNOW Takis-Fotopoulos Inlusive Democracy Project Talks About Markets Employment And Multinational Corporations Neoliberalism
Real Democracy NOW:Takis Fotopoulos on the Working Class Movement
This is a multi-part video interview with Takis Fotopoulos, the founder of the Inclusive Democracy project, on the rise of the neoliberal phase of modernity (mid 70s - now) and the consequent emergence of neoliberal globalisation, which was established formally in UK with the rise of Thatcherism and in US with the rise of Reaganomics, although the systemic structural trends for it took off much earlier, with the opening of markets and the huge expansion of multinational corporations.
Takis' interview is set about many aspects of Systemic Violence, both indirect and direct, against the vast majority of people around the world and especially in Britain, which were established or expanded throughout the now-omnipresent neoliberal/social-liberal consensus: From the (never-ending) war on "terrorism" to the true nature of May '68 and from the Working Class movement to Academic Repression, this is an important multi-part interview for every citizen who would like to know the history and nature of what the Reformist Left and the mass media call just "neoliberal politics", in a simplistic, if not suspicious, way , disorienting people from the crucial fact that, as long as markets remain open and liberalised, governments of countries integrated into the system of the internationalised market economy will have to follow basically the same policies, either they are conservative, or "socialist", green or fundamentalist.

Real Democracy Now America: Stop the Machine! Create a New World! Freedom Plaza Washington DC American Revolution
Stop the Machine! Create a New World!
Freedom Plaza, Washington, DC
1331 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest
Washington, DC
Octuber 6, 12:00 - 24/12 at 15:00
A Call to Action - Oct. 6, 2011 and onward
October 2011 is the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan and the beginning of the 2012 federal austerity budget. It is time to light the spark that sets off a true democratic, nonviolent transition to a world in which people are freed to create just and sustainable solutions.
We call on people of conscience and courage—all who seek peace, economic justice, human rights and a healthy environment—to join together in Washington, D.C., beginning on Oct. 6, 2011, in nonviolent resistance similar to the Arab Spring and the Midwest awakening.
A concert, rally and protest will kick off a powerful and sustained nonviolent resistance to the corporate criminals that dominate our government.
Forty-seven years ago, Mario Savio, an activist student at Berkeley, said, "There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all."
Those words have an even greater urgency today. We face ongoing wars and massive socio-economic and environmental destruction perpetrated by a corporate empire which is oppressing, occupying and exploiting the world. We are on a fast track to making the planet unlivable while the middle class and poor people of our country are undergoing the most wrenching and profound economic crisis in 80 years.
"Stop the Machine! • Create a New World!" is a clarion call for all who are deeply concerned with injustice, militarism and environmental destruction to join in ending concentrated corporate power and taking direct control of a real participatory democracy. We will encourage a culture of resistance—using music, art, theater and direct nonviolent action—to take control of our country and our lives. It is about courageously resisting and stopping the corporate state from destroying not only our inherent rights and freedoms, but also our children’s chance to live, breathe clean air, drink pure water, grow edible natural food and live in peace.
As Mother Jones said, "Someday the workers will take possession of your city hall, and when we do, no child will be sacrificed on the altar of profit!"
We are the ones who can create a new and just world. Our issues are connected. We are connected. Join us in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 6, 2011, to Stop the Machine.
******************************************************************************
Take the pledge and sign up to attend here. Let America know you are coming to make history and a new world!
"I pledge that if any U.S. troops, contractors, or mercenaries remain in Afghanistan on Thursday, October 6, 2011, as that occupation goes into its 11th year, I will commit to being in Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., with others on that day or the days immediately following, for as long as I can, with the intention of making it our Tahrir Square, Cairo, our Madison, Wisconsin, where we will NONVIOLENTLY resist the corporate machine by occupying Freedom Plaza to demand that America's resources be invested in human needs and environmental protection instead of war and exploitation. We can do this together. We will be the beginning."

Nigel Farage To European Council in European Parliament: "you're happy to destroy democracy"
► Debate: European Council and Commission statements - Conclusions of the European Council meeting on economic governance (28-29 October)
Transcript:
Good morning, Mr van Rompuy,
You've been in office for one year and in that time the whole edifice is beginning to crumble, there's chaos, the money's running out - I should thank you; you should perhaps be the pin-up boy of the Eurosceptic movement.
But just look around this chamber, this morning. Just look at these faces. Look at the fear. Look at the anger. Poor old Barroso here looks like he's seen a ghost.
They're begining to understand that the game is up and yet in their desperation to preserve their dream, they want to remove any remaining traces of democracy from the system. And it's pretty clear that none of you have learnt anything.
When you yourself, Mr van Rompuy, say that the euro has brought us stability. I suppose I could applaud you for having a sense of humour, but isn't this, really, just the bunker mentality?
Your fanaticism is out in the open. You talked about the fact that it was a lie to believe that the nation state could exist in the 21st Century globalised world. Well, that may be true in the case of Belgium, who haven't had a government for six months, but for the rest of us, right across every member state in this Union - and perhaps this is why we see the fear in the faces - increasingly people are saying, 'We don't want that flag. We don't want the anthem. We don't want this political class. We want the whole thing consigned to the dustbin of history.'
And we had the Greek tragedy earlier on this year, and now we have this situation in Ireland. Now I know that the stupidity and greed of Irish politicians has a lot to do with this. They should never ever have joined the euro. They suffered with low interest rates, a false boom and a massive bust.
But look at your response to them. What they're being told, as their government is collapsing, is that it would be inappropriate for them to have a general election. In fact Commissioner Rehn here said they had to agree their budget first before they'd be allowed to have a general election.
Just who the hell do you think you people are?
You are very very dangerous people, indeed. Your obsession with creating this Euro state means that you're happy to destroy democracy. You appear to be happy for millions and millions of people to be unemployed and to be poor. Untold millions must suffer so that your Euro dream can continue.
Well it won't work. Because it's Portugal next, with their debt levels of 325% of GDP, they're the next ones on the list, and after that I suspect it will be Spain. And the bailout for Spain would be seven times the size of Ireland's and at that moment all of the bailout money has gone - there won't be anymore.
But it is even more serious than economics. Because if you rob people of their identity. If you rob them of their Democracy, then all they are left with is nationalism and violence. I can only hope and pray that the Euro project is destroyed by the markets before that really happens.

Nigel Farage To European Council in European Parliament: "you're happy to destroy democracy"

23 Julio, 2011
_______________________________________________________
Un'altra manifestazione si svolgerà il giorno 23. Il meeting point sarà Castel Sant'Angelo. Questo l'itinerario ed il programma:

termine percorso: Castel Sant'Angelo 3° flashmob
ore 21:00 assemblea pubblica a Castel Sant'Angelo

DRY International: Madrid Big Demonstration Protests March on July 23 For Real Democracy Now
BIG DEMONSTRATION MARCH ON JULY 23RD IN MADRID - DRY – International
Yesterday the work group for the popular march held a meeting. As you are anxious to know what we are going to do when you arrive, we can begin to clarify some things.
1- Once you have entered the community of Madrid, the neighbourhood assemblies will mark the routes so that you pass through areas where you can get most coverage. They are working on this. As soon as we know more, we will put each march in touch with its corresponding neighbourhood.
2- You will end up in neighbourhoods about 2 hours from Sol. They will be expecting you from noon onward. There will be parties, food, you’ll be able to rest and get your strength back.
3- Meanwhile, the support cars that will come with you, as well as volunteer cars if necessary, will drive to the camp area (to be determined) to set up the tents and carry the backpacks.
4- At aproximately 7pm, you will depart from each of your neighbourhoods and head for Sol, where we hope you will all converge at the same time, about 9pm.
5- We suggest that people coming from outside Madrid to support us go to the neighbourhood assigned to their march, and then walk from there to Sol.
6- THERE WILL NOT BE A DEMONSTRATION ON THE 24TH!!! So people interested in coming to Madrid should come on the 23rd.
7- Remember that in late July there aren’t many people in Madrid, so we cannot call two consecutive demonstrations.
8- The 23rd is planned as a recreational day, but also as a day of protest, symbolized by your arrival in Madrid and subsequent march to Sol.
9- Activities are being organized for when you get to Sol (we’ll keep you updated).
10- We will all end up at the camp area, where tents will have been set up beforehand.
11- From the 24th on, work days are planned. There is a specific group preparing the content. (We are still waiting for proposals).
12- Our next action is already being worked on (let it be known that the movement will not stop in August). I’d rather not say any more until the plan is more or less defined, but it will be soon. (Again, we are waiting for proposals).
Remember: THERE WON’T BE A DEMONSTRATION ON THE 24TH!!! Please spread the word through your usual channels.

DRY INTERNATIONAL June19th Against the Euro Pact: TAKE ALL STREETS AND SQUARES OF ES-UK-FR-DE-IT-PT AND EUROPE
THERE ARE NEW POWERFULL REASONS; ONCE AGAIN, TAKE THE STREETS
June19th, hour: 19:00.
ALL STREETS AND SQUARES OF PORTUGAL SPAIN AND EUROPE
NO TO THE EURO PACT: We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers.
The EURO PACT: New attack on democracy ONCE AGAIN.
ONCE AGAIN, the EU leaders endorse a policy misleading the public to the benefit of large financial corporations, instead of defending the citizens.
On 27th June, all European governments, including that of Spain, will sign in Brussels a major socioeconomic daylight robbery of an international scope: the so-called Euro Pact, by which the politicians of the European Union agree to legislate the orders of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), European Central Bank (ECB) and the World Bank (WB).
Failure to comply with these orders means, the rating agencies that have led Greece, Ireland and Portugal to the ruins (Moody's, Standard & Poor's, and Fitch) will resume their attacks.
What do they sign when they ratify the Euro Pact?
AN ENSLAVEMENT PACT!
(Greater sacrifices for the people with austerity measures in the public domain that result in: delaying the retirement age in Europe, wage cuts, elimination of social services, cuts in pensions, cuts in health and education, increasing taxes, cuts in research development & investigation, adjusting wages to productivity and competitiveness, etc. ONCE AGAIN.)
SEE BY YOURSELF:
- The public sector salaries should be consistent with the competitiveness of the private sector, WHICH MEANS: further cuts in the public sector as it must offer the same benefits as the private sector´s derisory wages and increasing working hours. This fascist measures, includes a sharp cut in public employees numbers.
- Therefore all countries should adjust their laws to the dictates of the banks, WHICH MEANS governments are ONCE AGAIN not legislating for citizens interests protection, but in the favors of markets and large banking corporations.
- The new retirement age will be delayed in all the countries in accordance with life expectancy.
- Enhancing competitiveness: linking wages to productivity, just like what has already been done in Spain with the latest labor reform which calls for more flexible redundancy laws, more flexible labor agreements and more flexible contracts, thus endangering the current collective negotiation labor laws system.
- To foster cheap lay-offs and Temporary Employment Agencies (TEA). The banks will lower the financial strains to encourage the hiring of workers, and in doing so will demolish the Social Security system and will be introducing the figure of "the perpetual intern and the perpetual precarious worker”.
- All pensions freezing.
- More Reduction on Social Benefits.
- Social protection Systems Reduction, worsening the Social Security system.
- More Cuts and Reduction on Social Education System, resulting in poorer results, which are conditions that favors and promote its ultimate privatization.
- Increased direct and indirect taxes for citizens, small and medium businesses and penalties for not complying with the payment of these taxes through fines, interest, fees, etc.
- Changes to our constitution and that of the signatory countries with the aim of "adjusting the economy within the parameters of the IMF, ECB and World Bank” resulting in the loss of sovereignty of the people.
ONCE AGAIN, governments do not use political power to legislate and to stop the provokers of the crisis and international banks and large hedge funds, for example, stepping in against financial corporations. Instead, with the signing of the Pact of the Euro scheduled for June 27, will strengthen the large financial corporations and adopt policies that are of interest to banks and large European companies. As if we hadn´t had enough, all governments independently of their political color, will sign this agreement to commit to large financial corporations and thus, as ever, SACRIFICE EUROPEAN CITIZENS ONCE AGAIN, enabling the Global Elite Financiers to continue play with peoples life as coins in a casino, defrauding the world using financial products that are as sophisticated as they are risky and fraudulent, permitting bank usury and more countries bankruptcy.
ONCE AGAIN using deception to deal with debt crisis they create and that grips Europe, increasing false idea and false policy that competitiveness of national economies can only be achieved by reducing labor costs ... ONCE AGAIN.
Still no mention of intervention in tax havens where the great fortunes rest or making laws against tax evasion. Still none talk about taxing financial transactions, no rating agencies regulation, etc. Still none mention of measures against unemployment and in favor of social welfare.
Still there is no consideration for a public and independent audit of the public debt in order to enable citizens to know what the debt really is and what part of it actually corresponds to the banks and private equity funds which according to the data we have constitutes most of the PUBLIC DEBT.
ONCE AGAIN, we are served the impoverishment of society on a platter in benefit of expanding the great fortunes and accentuating the social divide.
In this way, the historical record of the profits of large financial corporations are ONCE AGAIN enlarged even more, the record high salaries of CEOs and executives will increase even more, and thus we reach record levels of poverty and unemployment.
The difficulty of accessing this information is due to the lack of political transparency and the fear that ALL EUROPEAN CITIZENS will TAKE THE STREETS.
WE HAVE POWERFUL REASONS; ONCE AGAIN, TAKE THE STREETS

THERE ARE REASONS; ONCE AGAIN, TAKE THE STREET
19th June, hour: 19:00 (GMT+1)
ALL STREETS AND SQUARES OF SPAIN AND EUROPE
- The public sector salaries should be consistent with the competitiveness of the private sector, WHICH MEANS: further cuts in the public sector as it must offer the same benefits as the private sector´s derisory wages and increasing working hours. Including a sharp cut in the numbers of public employees.
- Therefore all countries should adjust their laws to the dictates of the banks, WHICH MEANS governments are ONCE AGAIN not legislating for the protection and interests of citizens but in the favour of large banking corporations and the markets.
- The retirement age will be delayed in all the countries in accordance with life expectancy.
- Enhancing competitiveness: linking wages to productivity, just like what has already been done in Spain with the latest labour reform which calls for more flexible redundancy laws, more flexible labour agreements and more flexible contracts, thus endangering the current system of collective negotiation of labour laws.
- To foster cheap lay-offs and Temporary Employment Agencies (TEA). The banks will lower the financial strains to encourage the hiring of workers, and in doing so will demolish the Social Security system and will be introducing the figure of "the perpetual intern and the perpetual precarious worker”.
- The freezing of all pensions.
- Reduction of social benefits.
- Reduction of the social protection systems, worsening the Social Security system.
- Reduction of spending on education, resulting in poorer results, which are conditions that favour and promote its ultimate privatisation.
As if we hadn´t had enough, all governments independently of their political colour, will sign this agreement to commit to large financial corporations and thus, as ever, sacrifice the citizens ONCE AGAIN, enabling the financiers to continue defrauding the world using financial products that are as sophisticated as they are risky and fraudulent, and permitting bank usury.
Using the deception that to deal with the debt crisis that grips Europe, increasing the competitiveness of national economies can only be achieved by reducing labour costs ... ONCE AGAIN.
Still no mention of intervention in tax havens where the great fortunes rest or making laws against tax evasion. Still no talk of taxing financial transactions, regulating rating agencies, etc. Still no mention of measures against unemployment and in favour of social welfare.
In this way, the historical record of the profits of large financial corporations are ONCE AGAINenlarged even more, the record high salaries of CEOs and executives will increase even more, and thus we reach record levels of poverty and unemployment.
The difficulty of accessing this information is due to the lack of political transparency and the fear that ALL OF EUROPE will TAKE THE STREET.
THERE ARE REASONS; ONCE AGAIN, TAKE THE STREET
