American GAP National Taxpayers Union Petition: No International Bank Bailouts without Whistleblower Protections! by Shelley Waldenon on The Whistleblogger

Petition: No International Bank Bailouts without Whistleblower Protections!

by Shelley Waldenon March 02, 2012 ( The Whistleblogger / 2012 )

Dear GAP Supporter:

Last December, while US taxpayers were doing their holiday shopping, Congress quietly approved more than $35 billion in bailouts to international development banks. These multilateral development banks (MDBs) are immune from national oversight and laws, both here and abroad. They are riddled with corruption and blatantly resist any meaningful internal governance reform. Experts estimate that $26 – $130 billion have been lost to corruption at the World Bank alone since its founding, to say nothing of the other MDBs.

Fortunately, Congress hasn't issued a blank check. According to a federal law that was passed in December, before the U.S. can contribute tens of billions of dollars in cold cash and guarantees to the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the African Development Bank, the Treasury Department must report that each institution is making substantial progress toward implementing certain reforms – including best practice whistleblower protections. That's where you come in.

Please sign our petition to demand the Treasury Department to conduct – and release for public comment – a credible review that details the implementation of the MDB's whistleblower protections!

The Treasury Department is required to submit a report to Congress about the MDBs' progress on these reform measures. Without oversight from the American people, Treasury is expected to quietly issue a report that rubber-stamps MDB practices that have condoned retaliation against whistleblowers. The report may well approve the bailouts, although the Banks have yet to even adopt best practice whistleblower protections, let alone implement them.

A comprehensive survey of more than 5,400 executives worldwide found that whistleblowers detect more economic crimes than corporate security, internal audits, fraud risk management and law enforcement combined. And why wouldn't they? Workers on the inside are often the only individuals with knowledge of corruption who aren't involved in the scheme. Strong whistleblower protections are crucial to ensuring that economic crimes are detected and that the billions of American taxpayer dollars flowing into them are spent appropriately. Together, we can ensure that before another penny of taxpayer money is distributed, the MDBs are held accountable for implementing strong whistleblower protections.

Please sign our petition to demand the Treasury Department to conduct – and release for public comment – a credible review that details the implementation of the MDB's whistleblower protections!

This petition is a joint project of GAP and the National Taxpayers Union.

American Hero United States Marine Corps Sergeant Shamar Thomas
#OccupyTimesSquare 1 Marine vs. 30 Cops Marine Wins

United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.

Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.

Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).

This Guy is a f4cking Inspiration, and f4ck all that talk that hes a spokeperson for african american's! even though im black but... he speaks for every ethnicity out there! hes completely right, we have brutality beating Cops in Canada too, but f4ck.. its not as bad as America though. The world must be coming to an end when 30 plus cops have no reaction to one Black man. normally on any given day, they wouldve beaten the shit out of a "Nigger".

they were all customers of city bank. They were all going to close there acount. Even tho they went in as a group why should they be arrested they all had legitimate business. This is a messed up system were people are getting arested for doing legal actions with symbolism. So there only crime was trying to close there acounts because they felt that occupy wall st had a point.

We can see in this video, that: Citibank Criminal Banksters, and The NYPD, kidnapped, and force that lady inside the bank.
The NYPD, was suppose to help the lady in the video, not help the bank commit the crime of Kidnaping!!!

A comment wroted on DRY 15 October International Mobilization Take the Square Anti-Banks Global Protest, that shows the real american situation, that, in fact, is the same as the European.
All for the Banks Banksters Gangsters, the Evil 1%, and taxes, and taxes, and more taxes for the people, the 99%, that is geting unsleaved by Evil Banksters.

BIG BANKS are destroying our community while WORKING FAMILIES are struggling to make ends meet Big banks like Bank of America took billions of ou tax dollars, but refuse to pay their own taxes. We bailed them out, yet we’re the ones being forced out of our homes. While the CEOs rake in millions in salary and bonuses, working families continue to struggle. In fact, janitors in over 20 cities across the country are uniting on to fight for better wages and working conditions. Over the next year, negotiations that will impact the wages and benefits of tens of thousands of janitors across the country will be taking place, including contracted janitors that work in downtown Providence. Providence’s janitors will be rallying in solidarity with other working families to hold banks accountable and fight for an economy that works for all. Stand up against banks like Bank of America that are bankrupting our community and to push for an agenda that puts us, the people, first! Join us to say NO to big banks and YES to working families. R A L L Y in downtown Providence Wednesday, September 28 @ 4:00pm Bank of America building at 111 Westminster St.

This is why we fight and organized the May 15, the June 19 protests against the Euro Pact, and the OCTOBER 15 Global Mass protests for real democracy.

American Revolution Occupy Wall Street Decorated US Marines Sgt Shamar Thomas Stand Up For People Against NYP Police Brutality

This is the ACTUAL MARINE from the Video. I will say 1st that I don't hate the Police or more specifically the NYPD. My Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, Mother, and Step-Father have all served in Combat Zones. I was deployed to Iraq in 04 and 06. My 1st Combat Action was in Fallujah 2004. My parents both served for 20 plus years. We fought for the American Citzens without complaint. All to come home and see INNOCENT Citzens get Brutalize by the Police they must Trust. No HONOR in that. SEMPER FI

@SgtShamarThomasUSMC I know you don't hate the police or the NYPD neither do most citizens ... but your display of outrage so perfectly summed up what many of us feel after what we have been witnessing via citizen reports. My father and grandfather were Canadian veterans in both world wars so i respect and honour you sir. Thanks!

Tryptophantom

You know your country is fucked up when a soldier gets laughed at by a police officer.

Mad respect to the Marine though, he had the balls to say what everyone else was thinking.

dotZodiac

@SgtShamarThomasUSMC Navy Seabee Iraq war combat vet here ( Fallujah 05-06). You Marines always had our backs. I see you haven't let up! Thank you for still fighting for the Constitution and Human Rights.

seabeejg

thank god for people like this man.....upholding his oath to serve and protect THE PEOPLE of this country.....not to serve and protect the criminal scum (politicians/federal reserve) ruining this country

The Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank which CANNOT be audited

wallyszabo

Blah blah blah SUPPORT THE TROOPS blah blah blah. Then the troops come home from one fight to face this one.

Only the 99% actually support the troops. The 1% robbed them of many of their benefits, and post-service job prospects. The 1% are the ones who invent all the stupid wars, and then send our noble soldiers off to fight for ignoble causes.

I am sick of our soldiers AND OUR POLICE being used this way! We the people need to take our nation back.

ToolPackinMama

And all the honor goes to you, Marine Sgt Shamar Thomas! Thank you for standing up to those police/bullies who feel abuse the power that WE have vested in them!

Simply put, you rock!

larazuni

A true hero..... and an honorable man all respect to you sir...

Thank you Sgt.

WorldRevolution USDOR: American Banks Victims Plans Antibanks Protests Across USA

Global Economic Crisis World Revolution

Foreclosure Victims Plan Antibanks Protests Across the USA

Wake Up and Revolt Against the Criminal Banks Banksters Gangsters Gang Mafia or before they Kill you they Gone Enslave you. So, People must Revolt!.

Victims of the foreclosure mess and housing crisis are taking to the streets -- literally. Street demonstrations are being planned in 10 cities, and in the crowd at the first one you are going to see Dixie Mitchell, a 74-year-old cancer survivor who refinanced her paid-off home to help one of the foster kids in her care -- and is now losing it in a foreclosure.

Mitchell, who along with her 76-year-old husband raised eight biological children and 50 foster children in this house, says that she intends to make her voice heard loud and clear as she marches in front of bank offices in Seattle on Sept. 21. The march is the first in a 10-city rollout of protests against Wall Street Criminals (Americans to Wall Street: “Pay US Back”), organized by The New Bottom Line (Wall Street, Bank of America Pay US Back), a coalition of community groups that challenges big banks' role in the housing crisis.

Mitchell's story is particularly heart-wrenching: She and her husband were doing just fine living in the house they've owned for 44 years until he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed and cost him his job. The house was fully paid off in the mid-1980s, but they borrowed against it to make roof and kitchen repairs. The straw that broke the camel's back came in 2005, when Mitchell needed to hire a lawyer, at a cost of $20,000, in an effort to keep a 3-year-old boy who had been in her care since he was an infant.

She was advised by the bank to refinance her house to get the cash. She took out an adjustable rate loan that would reset in two years, at which point, Mitchell says, the lender told her that she would be able to refinance into another 30-year-fixed rate loan. But the original loan was bundled and sold multiple times to different lenders. It reset to a higher rate right around the time her husband suffered a massive stroke, and she quickly fell behind in her payments. Without his earnings, her monthly income is just $2,200 in Social Security and her monthly mortgage is $2,568.

Mitchell filed for bankruptcy, tried getting assistance from every social service agency she could think of, spent two years trying to get a loan modification and even offered to rent out rooms to boarders if the bank would just let her keep her house.

"My husband wants to die at home, at our home," she says. Her home is set to be auctioned on Oct. 28 and she has no place to go.

Why is she going to participate in the demonstration?

"I need them [the bank] to look me in the eye and tell me why they think it's better to put people out in the street," she said. "They haven't done their share to help. They don't even give you a chance ... all they do is lose your paperwork and make you send it over and over again. Each time you talk to somebody, you get a different answer."

Dixie Mitchell

Those are sentiments shared by many

Wake Up and Revolt Against the Criminal Banks Banksters Gangsters Gang Mafia or before they Kill you they Gone Enslave you. So, People must Revolt!.

LeeAnn Hall, executive director of Alliance for a Just Society and one of the organizational members of The New Bottom Line, said the Seattle area protests will be staged both in downtown Seattle and at the annual policy summit meeting of the Association of Washington Business, a statewide chamber of commerce. The meeting is being held in Suncadia, a mountain resort near Cle Elum, Wash. The governor is expected to attend the meeting and Hall said that the group hopes to engage her.

Subsequent demonstrations are planned across the country in Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and other locations.

The New Bottom Line said that it is targeting "big banks that bankrupted the country and drained wealth from American families." The direct actions primarily target JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, and include taking over bank buildings, meetings of corporate officials, civil disobedience, prayer vigils and mass mobilizations.

"We are struggling with less and less, while the big banks profit more and more," said George Goehl, executive director of National People's Action, another organizational member of The New Bottom Line. "The big banks have done nothing but dodge taxes, throw people out of their homes and choke small business, all the while draining our wealth to pad their bottom line. It's time for JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo to pay us back."

According to a press statement, the group's goals are that banks:

• Pay their fair share of taxes -- their statutorily required 35 percent corporate income tax and not "game" the system through off-shore tax shelters and loopholes.

• Stabilize the housing market and revitalize the economy by reducing principal for all underwater homeowners to current-market value. "This would end the foreclosure crisis, reset the housing market, pump billions of dollars back into the economy and create one million jobs a year," the group says.

• Invest in American jobs by using their trillions of dollars in cash reserves to invest in small businesses -- the main source of jobs in the U.S. -- and other job-generating investments.

WorldRevolution America USDOR: American People Protest Around Wall Street

American Protests Take Wall Street Manhattan
Wall Street Occupation..several thousand protesters are still trying to occupy wall street,

do not believe press reports about there being only one thousand.

Originally organized by Anonymous but including others such as Adbusters.

Almost a complete news blackout, see tweets, it was tweet trending but then twitter removed it, also see live webcams, if the whole wide world is watching it will make it harder for their police to crack skulls.

A lot of Americans are waking up to find out how free they really are in the land of the free.

Police are now treating this peaceful protest as a potential riot, police radio traffic are call ing it a 10-34. Police have been issued with plastic ties/handcuffs and have prison buses lying in wait. Please everybody we have to help this go viral.

As for the mighty debt we are the victims are a pyramid scam run by the American banks, we as Europe should club together and send a clear message to America, can't pay won't pay.

Occupy wall street march

Yes we march. This protest is a necessary development of society.

It looks a little like the 60's again to me..."freedom of assembly"? remember all the unrest about the Viet Nam War. All the money that was being spent overseas creating mayhem took resources out of our society so only the TOUGHEST could survive. The Flower Children of the 60's had similar causes, I guess there wasn't so much then... war, poisoning of the environment, corruption in the court system, holes in social services, pharmaceutical drugs, strip mining, oil spills, poverty, child labor...
